We will now start from the side with the relay. Route the relay through the engine bay and connect the wires to the LED fog lights or any other lighting application such as LED daytime running lights or LED work lights. For the relay side:Connect the positive wire to battery positive and negative wire to the ground. Connect the single white wire to the switch. Connect the remaining wires to your fog lamps. The shorter wires are to be on the side where the battery is located. The longer wires will need to be routed to the side of the vehicle that does not have the battery.
I will draw up some different ways to test circuits and there most common faults. Bent pins, open female pins, pinched wires, cut harness, melted harness and improper testing are some reasons for automobile wiring faults. Most of the time you will find a fuse that has blown, so you put one in. It may work, but what if it blows out later or if right when you out a new one in? You are going to need to find the cause of this. You could take it in to a shop. But most places may not be has skilled in wiring testing, or have the right equipment. You could take it to a dealer, but it may cost you a pretty penny. Once you find out what is was you could have fixed it yourself. Try a fix it yourself first. Do not go and destroy your automobile while doing this. Take your time and look at thing closely. A good DVOM, wiring diagram and some time could save you some money on your automobile wiring repairs. I will post some drawings of how to test circuit and there different problems. It will be easier to explain and easier for you to see how to test for faults.
Currently, the retail price of standard 23 AWG (American Wire Gauge) CAT6 cable from a branded cable manufacturer is somewhere around $0.50 a foot. So you can very well calculate the total cost of procurement for the cable provided you measure out the routing distance in feet between your computer Ethernet port and the device to which you want to connect it to. Next item on your buying list are the two RJ-45 connectors unless you already have them with you. You also need to have a crimping device and a network cable connection tester. The wiring diagram you can easily download using the Internet. Two such diagrams are available. One uses the TIA/EIA-568-A wiring standard and the other the TIA/EIA-568-B wiring standard. Incidentally TIA stands for Telecommunications Industries Association and EIA stands for Electronic Industries Association.
For example, a surface ceiling light will be shown by one symbol, a recessed ceiling light will have a different symbol, and a surface fluorescent light will have another symbol. Each type of switch will have a different symbol and so will the various outlets. You will even find symbols showing the location of smoke detectors, your doorbell chime, and the thermostat. When it comes to household electricity, there is a lot more to consider than simply turning a switch On and Off. Some of the most common questions electricians receive involve switches. Once you understand the different types of switches and follow a good wiring diagram, you should be able to install a new switch in your home.
The best option is always to use a verified and accurate wiring diagram that is provided from a trusted source. A good, established company that has a long track record of providing the most up-to-date wiring diagrams available is not hard to find. In fact, the services that they provide are relatively inexpensive compared to what could happen if a bad schematic is used. Many times, a busy mechanic will not have the time to verify a wiring diagram has accuracy and may potentially move forward on a repair job with the wrong information in hand. This is potentially an extremely expensive and reputation damaging situation and can be avoided by simply putting your trust with a reputable and proven online source for automotive repair information and diagrams.
Use separate circuits for lights. Even if the breaker of a wall outlet trips because of overload, the lights will remain on. Label the switches in the breaker box. It is necessary for emergencies when you do not need to waste time to figure out which switch controls what circuit. The labeling will also help during upgrades or reinstallation of electrical wiring. Installing an electrical wiring layout is not the job of an amateur. Leave it to an expert electrician who will know the best about the placement and installation of the instruments. However, you should be a part of it to have a better understanding of the electrical system of your house.
Bulldog.com offers a basic explanation of electrical information in an MS Word document; however they do not supply charts or schematics. Two other sites that I found to offer great information were Freeauto.com and 12voltresource.com. Freeauto.com provides complete color diagnostics for most makes and models. What I found interesting(?) is freeauto will provide you these color automotive electrical charts and all the other information on their informative website for $11.99. They also assist you with basic electrical theory, electrical harnesses and test equipment.
